Meet our food-as-medicine nutritionist

Our nutritionist has 4 years of experience. Her focus is prevention: helping women in their 40s and 50s eat in a way that supports energy, weight and long-term health, so they’re not just fixing problems later.

She believes food is the most powerful health tool most of us use three times a day, and that it should taste good, fit your culture and feel sustainable.

“Food is the most powerful tool most of us use three times a day. My job is helping you use it well, for the long run.”

What food as medicine means here

Everyday patterns, not a fad.

It doesn’t mean replacing medicine or following a fad. It means building everyday eating patterns that research links with better long-term health.

  • Plenty of plants. Vegetables, fruit, beans, lentils, whole grains, nuts and seeds, for fibre and a wide range of nutrients
  • Enough protein. To protect muscle and keep you full, especially important after 40
  • Steady blood sugar. Balanced meals that keep energy steady and cravings down
  • Gut health. Fibre-rich foods and fermented foods such as yoghurt, tempeh and kimchi
  • Less ultra-processed food. Not banned, just a smaller share of the week
  • Healthy fats. Fish, nuts, seeds, avocado and olive oil in place of deep-fried and highly processed fats
Why prevention matters in your 40s and 50s

Invest before it shows.

This is the stage when blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure and bone density often start to change, sometimes without symptoms. Eating well now, alongside regular strength training and your doctor’s health screenings, is one of the best investments you can make in the next 30 years.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers.

Can food cure my health condition?

Food can make a real difference to many conditions, but it doesn’t replace medical treatment. If you have a diagnosed condition, keep following your doctor’s advice. Our team includes a registered dietitian for medical nutrition needs.

Do I need supplements?

Usually food comes first. If you might need a supplement, such as vitamin D, speak to your doctor or our dietitian.

Will I have to go vegetarian or vegan?

No. Plenty of plants is the goal, not cutting out food groups. Plans fit your preferences.

Is this still about weight loss?

It can be. Many women lose weight as a side effect of eating this way, alongside better energy and health markers.
